It can be challenging to navigate the world of sustainable fashion, as there are many different certifications, labels, and claims to consider. Some of the most trusted certifications include Fair Trade Certified, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and the B Corp certification, OEKO-TEX, Better Cotton Initiative. These certifications demonstrate that the brand has undergone rigorous testing and meets high standards of social and environmental responsibility. In addition to certifications, it's also essential to research the brand's transparency and sustainability reports. Look for information on the materials used, production processes, and any environmental or social initiatives the brand supports. Finally, check if the brand supports any sustainable causes or organizations. For example, Patagonia is a US based brand whose founder, Yvon Chouinard, has pledged the entire firm valued at $3 billion to combat climate change and protect undeveloped land around the globe.
